Requirements:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician, license must be current in Florida
  • 2-3 years of veterinary experience
  • Must be able to work rotating weekends
  • Can lift 50lb and able to stand for long periods of time
  • Avimark software knowledge is preferred, but not required
  • Idexx in-house lab knowledge is preferred, but not required

Essential Job Tasks:

  • Assist the veterinarian during the examination of animals
  • Provide restraint as needed to work safely and effectively
  • Prepare and administer treatments, as prescribed by the veterinarian
  • Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination
  • Assist in prepping patients for surgery (or develop an aptitude to learn)
  • Obtain radiographs of animals with knowledge of proper positioning and techniques
  • Ensure a comfortable and sanitary environment for all patients
  • Responsible for the care of boarding and hospitalized patients
  • Prepare and sanitize the surgery suite - clean and maintain holding areas
  • Communicate with pet owners using a professional, compassionate, and helpful attitude, using knowledge of preventative health care recommendations to accurately answer questions and relay doctor’s information

Calusa Crossing Animal Hospital is a companion animal hospital actively looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team. We seek an organized, compassionate, and service-oriented professional who is confident in rooming patients, assisting in surgery, performing dental cleanings, placing IV catheters, drawing blood, and running in-house bloodwork with Idexx equipment. Experience with x-ray and proper positioning, understanding the importance of client education, and being a supportive team player are essential. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. We encourage continuous learning and professional growth.
