About the Role

Calusa Crossing Animal Hospital is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate team. We are looking for an organized, caring, and service-oriented individual who is confident in rooming patients, assisting in surgeries, performing dental cleanings, placing IV catheters, drawing blood, and running in-house bloodwork with Idexx equipment. Experience with x-ray positioning and client education is essential. The ideal candidate is a positive team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Requirements

• Current Florida Veterinary Technician license
• 2-3 years veterinary experience
• Ability to work rotating weekends
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods
• Knowledge of Avimark software (preferred)
• Knowledge of Idexx in-house lab (preferred)

Essential Job Tasks

• Assist veterinarians during animal examinations
• Provide restraint to ensure safety and effectiveness
• Prepare and administer treatments as prescribed
• Collect, prepare, and label samples for testing
• Assist in preparing patients for surgery (or willing to learn)
• Obtain radiographs with proper positioning and techniques
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and sanitary environment
• Care for hospitalized and boarding patients
• Sanitize and maintain the surgery suite and holding areas
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with pet owners, providing preventative health care advice and relaying doctor’s information
