Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our healthcare team in Arkansas. You will assign codes for inpatient and outpatient records using ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM and CPT, and enter data to support accurate billing.

Responsibilities include updating the billing system, assigning ER and outpatient charge codes, and working within the denials management system as directed, in support of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT or CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC and / or CPC-A) required.
• Experience coding inpatient and outpatient records in an acute care setting using ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT.
• Familiar with denials, charge master, payer requirements and revenue cycle.
• Microsoft Excel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes to all medical records using ICD-9-CM and or ICD-10 nomenclature and CPT classifications.
• Enter and / or updates data in computer system to facilitate billing procedures.
• Assign charge codes to emergency room records and other outpatient records as required.
• Responsible for working in the denials management system as directed.
• Functions as a part of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Program (CDIP) to ensure compliance and appropriate reimbursement.
