Job summary

Substack is seeking a Product Storyteller to turn product developments into compelling stories for writers and creators on our platform. You’ll write launch stories, creator features, and practical guides, collaborating with product, communications, creator partnerships, and editorial teams.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer with editorial instinct, curious about how products work, and able to translate complex features into clear explanations while tailoring each story to the right

Qualifications

• 5+ years in comms, journalism, or editorial, with tech preferred.
• Exceptional writing and editing with a strong portfolio.
• Ability to translate complex features into clear explanations.
• Sharp storytelling to identify compelling creator examples.
• Strong project management and cross-team communication.
• Comfort across formats, including simple video explainers.

Responsibilities

• Own product storytelling. Write launch stories and creator-facing features.
• Develop creator resources with clear, useful guides and updated materials.
• Manage Product Lab and Bestseller communications, editing drafts and schedules.
• Stay close to shipping; gather examples, data, screenshots, and assets for accuracy.
• Collaborate with creators through interviews and testimonials.
• Shape coverage and timing with editorial/communications teams; coordinate with social teams.
