Job summary

Summit Oaks Hospital in Summit, NJ is seeking a Therapeutic Activities Therapist to plan and deliver activity services as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team, providing ongoing patient care and role modeling across age groups.

This role supports psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills, documents interventions, and collaborates with licensed staff to meet treatment goals in a dynamic behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Certification in CTRS, ATR, MT-BC, OT or LAC/LPC required.
• 1-3 years of related work experience.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe and apply sound judgment in patients' physical and mental condition/needs.
• Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.
• Provide assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency.
• Plan and implement therapeutic activity groups for assigned patient load.
• Maintain current documentation in weekly progress notes and session summaries.
• Teach coping skills and stress management techniques to patients.
