Job summary

Jobtailor in Philadelphia seeks an experienced sewer to produce monthly apparel samples, ensuring pattern accuracy and consistent sizing. You will sew garments with a range of fabrics, discuss techniques with the pattern maker, and apply finishing touches per the tech pack.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of sewing with wovens, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication to coordinate with designers and managers. CLO 3D is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional sewing experience with wovens.
  • Ability to quickly sew and produce a sample from a paper pattern.
  • Knowledge of pattern making and sewing construction.
  • High level of workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Sense of urgency and sensitivity to deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with manager and designers.
  • Knowledge of sewing different fabrics and weights, primarily woven fabrics.
  • Experience with tailoring for jackets, outerwear, and bottoms.
  • Extensive experience safely operating sewing machinery with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Compare patterns to cut apparel samples to ensure consistency in size, measurements, and feel.
  • Sew sample garments accurately using proper machinery and tools.
  • Discuss sewing problems with the pattern maker and troubleshoot root causes and corrections as a team.
  • Add finishing touches and trims, including pressing, steaming, sewing labels and buttons, according to the pattern card and tech pack by required deadlines.
  • Discuss sewing techniques with the pattern maker when no sew-by sample is provided.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
