Job summary

Sundog Theatre is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Artists to join our arts education team on Staten Island. You will lead art-integrated ELA and theatre residencies for young learners, helping students explore ideas, build skills, and express themselves creatively in a classroom setting.

Ideal candidates have experience with K-12 education or arts settings, strong classroom management, and the ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners, including ELL and students with special needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum teaching experience with K-12 students in education or arts settings.
  • Ability to lead engaging, workshop-based lessons.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead art-integrated ELA and theatre residencies for students in grades 2-3
  • Develop and lead engaging lessons within the discipline
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff
  • Adapt lessons to meet needs of diverse learners including ELL and students with special needs
  • Incorporate NYS Learning Standards and NYC Blueprints for Teaching & Learning in the Arts
  • Communicate with Sundog staff about program progress and classroom needs
