Job summary

The Sous Chef role at Bunkhouse's Carpenter Hotel in South Austin requires directing and coordinating all aspects of menu execution, inventory, and staff supervision. You will plan and price menus, ensure equipment readiness, and uphold Bunkhouse standards in a guest-first environment.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills, plus a minimum of two years in a similar kitchen role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; Culinary Institute certification preferred.
• Minimum of two years of relevant kitchen experience.
• Experience with inventory controls and scheduling a staff of 15+.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise food preparation and cooking across multiple kitchens.
• Collaborate to plan and develop recipes and menus based on seasonal ingredients and guest volume.
• Monitor sanitation practices and ensure standards are met.
• Hire, supervise, and develop kitchen staff to maintain consistent service.
