About Your New Role
Sporting News is seeking an ambitious, creative and self-starting Creative Media Producer to join our team. The Creative Media Producer will help develop, execute and evolve Sporting News’ video strategy, with a primary focus on social media, and also assist with distribution across platforms.
The Creative Media Producer should expect to be involved in all aspects of video content creation, from pitching ideas, creating and editing content, managing the video library and overseeing video-focused social media accounts. This role will also help shape breaking news coverage, developing a video strategy and driving growth across non-owned & operated distribution platforms.
This role can be done remotely or from our Charlotte, NC headquarters.
HERE’S A BREAKDOWN OF WHAT YOU’LL (PRIMARILY) DO
- Ideate, produce and edit both serialized and tentpole video content.
- Ensure all multimedia projects are visually consistent with The Sporting News' brand identity and maintain high standards of quality.
- Produce and edit interviews and oversee commercial video projects.
- Create visually engaging video which includes dynamic graphics, captions and typography.
- Create and execute content marketing strategies on social media and other third-party distribution platforms
- Maintain a video production schedule, while also tracking performance and analytics.
- Produce original content for Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.
- Contribute video content ideas surrounding tentpole events, trending news or evergreen topics.
- Post on social media channels as needed to support the social programming team.
- Work on various projects in conjunction with the graphic design team.
DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS?
- Proficient in Adobe products (Premier, After Effects, Photoshop) and comfortable working in Capcut.
- Familiarity with main social media platforms. (Reels, TikTok, Shorts)
- Have the ability to ideate and plan long-term projects.
- Know how to write clean, concise copy using context and knowledge of social trends in a variety of digital formats.
- Working knowledge of U.S. sports and the U.S. sports media market.
- Proficient knowledge of social media trends, posting styles for different platforms and understanding of the audiences they serve.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment and manage time effectively
- Willingness to work nights and weekends dictated by the sports calendar and tentpole events
- Be a team player, willing to collaborate across a diverse staff and contribute across teams
