Job summary

Nexstar Media seeks a Production Director to lead and manage the planning, researching, and production of local news programming. The role includes scriptwriting, budgeting, and conducting interviews, with responsibilities spanning on-air direction to talent management.

Responsibilities extend to post-production, editing, and archival work, as well as providing training to the production team and assisting in studio upkeep and graphic design decisions.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Communications or Mass Communications with an emphasis on Television Production or related experience.
• Two years of television directing experience preferred; experience may substitute education.
• Working knowledge of television production techniques and automation is necessary.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to plan schedules, assign duties, and provide training.

Responsibilities

• Researching, planning, managing and producing news programming.
• Plans and develops local news programs, writes scripts, and budgets.
• Produces programs by conducting interviews and managing talent.
• Oversees post-production, edits and archives tapes, and completes clearances.
• Provides training and direction to the production staff.
• Assist in repair and upkeep of studio and production sets.
• Participate in video graphics design and editorial decisions for shows.
