Job summary

Gensler Chicago is seeking a Designer to combine creativity and technical knowledge to produce purposeful, functional and beautiful interiors for our clients. You should have a background in interior design or architecture and a portfolio of innovative concepts, and you will be an integral part of your team.

This role focuses on interior design assignments, space planning, coordination with external consultants and furniture systems, and developing designs with 3D models using Revit or SketchUp.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of design or architecture.
• 2+ years of design leadership of interior design and/or architecture projects; recent education project experience is required.
• LEED accreditation or WELL AP is preferred.
• Experience delivering highly sustainable design solutions.
• Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
• Proficiency in Revit and other computer design programs.
• Must have a portfolio of education interior projects. Ideally the project portfolio will show a range of projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior design assignments that include interpreting client's needs, space planning, conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction documentation
• Performs work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques and procedures
• Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting
• Generate design with 3D models, Revit, Sketchup or other software, create digital 3D view to communicate design concepts
• Generate Interior finishes and reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections needed for construction
• Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts
• Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators
• Work in a synergistic manner with other design and professional staff
• Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs
