Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a creative Instructional Designer to develop eLearning, videos, graphics, and simulations that address knowledge gaps across business functions. The role emphasizes adult learning principles, collaboration with SMEs, and high-quality, learner-centered content.

You will manage tasks with guidance, contribute independently, and work with cross-functional partners to meet learning objectives. Onsite presence in Abbott Park is required three days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Learning and Development or related field; master’s preferred.
• 2–3 years in adult learning or instructional design; pharma experience preferred.
• Strong foundational instructional design knowledge and adult learning theory.
• Proficiency with modern content development tools for eLearning, graphics, video, and simulations.
• Ability to create engaging, learner-centered digital content.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with SMEs and cross-functional partners.
• Strong time management and project coordination skills.
• Interest in emerging learning trends and willingness to experiment with new tools.
• Onsite in Abbott Park 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop eLearning modules, videos, graphics, simulations, and other learning assets.
• Translate complex information into learner-friendly experiences that support knowledge transfer.
• Support project execution, track milestones, and escalate risks as needed.
• Partner with SMEs and stakeholders to gather input and define learning needs.
• Apply instructional design best practices to create effective solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of learning quality and engagement.
• Use contemporary authoring and design tools to build modern assets.
• Monitor learning effectiveness via feedback and completion data.
• Communicate progress with manager and project partners.
• Demonstrate adaptability and collaboration in a dynamic environment.
