The State of North Carolina seeks a Professional Services/Creative Therapy provider responsible for assessments and treatment of individuals with intellectual disabilities at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. The role requires a degree in relevant fields and offers a salary range indicative of the profession's complexity and requirements.
This position will be responsible for completing assessments on individuals referred to Creative Therapy, identifying needs, developing interventions for skill development, documentation of progress, and providing clinical treatment in both individual and group forums. Staff work on interdisciplinary teams and presents evaluative reports to the teams with respect to therapeutic creative / expressive arts techniques and principles.
This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Salary Grade MH08: Recruitment Range $41,857.00 - 62,786.00
Position 60048788- Professional Services/Creative Therapy - 1st shift (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), Monday - Friday w/ some evenings.

Management Preference
Training in/experience in working with people with IDD.
Treatment design and documentation.
Ability to adapt approach/intervention relative to resident need.
Ability to communicate with other professionals and paraprofessionals regarding treatment of individuals and the use of the creative arts in therapy.
Knowledge of education principles to employ with paraprofessional staff.
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Bachelor’s degree in music therapy which includes a six month internship from an appropriately accredited institution;
or
Bachelor’s degree in music or music education with an equivalency in music therapy which includes a six month internship from an appropriately accredited institution;
or
Bachelor’s degree in one of the creative/expressive arts areas (art, dance, drama, music) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in all phases of therapeutic programming; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Administering the class: if the creative/expressive arts degree program has a therapeutic equivalency or emphasis, the experience requirements will be waived.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
