Creative/Expressive Arts Therapist
THIS IS A REPOST - PREVIOUS APPLICANTS WILL NEED TO RE-APPLY
Broughton Hospital is currently recruiting for a Creative/Expressive Arts Therapist. Broughton Hospital’s Creative/Expressive Arts Therapy Department is an extension of the Recreational Therapy Department. The purpose of this department is to provide individual, small and large group Psychosocial Interventions (PSI’s) to patients with psychiatric, emotional, physical and developmental impairments in an inpatient hospital setting. Services are either individualized, goal-directed programs provided to address specific rehabilitative needs, or are of a more general, diversional nature serving primarily to provide opportunities for positive interaction and healthy leisure time usage.
This position will conduct individual, small and large group psychosocial interventions with persons with psychiatric disorders, to adolescent and adult psychiatric patients, many of whom have Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI). This individual will incorporate Creative/Expressive Arts techniques such as singing, structured and improvisational instrumental experiences, visual art, drama, poetry, literature, song writing, lyric discussion, movement and other forms of creative expression into individual and group sessions throughout the facility. Because this position is part of a large Recreational Therapy/Creative Expressive Arts (RT/CTA) department, this individual may be asked to assist with area-specific or hospital-wide patient events as needed.
The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; however, flexibility is required to meet the needs of the hospital.
