Job summary

Michaels in Gainesville, VA is seeking an in-store Event Coordinator to plan and coordinate children’s birthday parties and craft events while delivering friendly customer service. You will help guests shop, manage event logistics, and coordinate with the store team to ensure a smooth experience.

The role emphasizes engaging participants of all ages, managing add-ons, and maintaining safety and cleanliness. Night/weekend hours may apply in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent people skills.
• Must have experience working with children and children's events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal.
• Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Retail and/or customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects and activities.
• Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as emails, calls, and paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs; create backup plans.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events and maintain safety standards.
