Job description

As a Creative Director, Writer, you'll help set the conceptual and creative standard for work across Stein's breadth of global B2B clients.

This is a hands-on creative role for someone who is as accomplished a writer as they are a creative director. You'll concept and lead big integrated ideas, but you'll also write, crafting campaign platforms, scripts, headlines, manifestos, brand voices, and the words that turn a good idea into a great one.

Working closely with art directors, designers, strategists, and other creative specialists, you'll translate strategic thinking into distinctive ideas and powerful storytelling, guiding the work from first thought through final execution.

What You'll Do
Concept & Write
  • Develop big, ownable campaign ideas in partnership with art directors and designers, contributing equally to the concept as well as its expression.
  • Remain hands-on in the work, writing key executions yourself when the assignment calls for it, not simply directing others.
  • Set the conceptual and writing bar through your own work as well as through the creative direction of writers and multidisciplinary creative teams.
  • Bring exceptional craft to headlines, scripts, manifestos, campaign platforms, brand voice, long-form and short-form copy.
  • Find simple, surprising, and memorable ways to communicate complex ideas and B2B narratives.
  • Build ideas that can extend coherently across film, digital, social, print, experiential, and other channels.
  • Turn early-stage ideas into compelling creative presentations that make clients want to buy them.
Lead the Work
  • Guide creative development from concept through production and delivery, ensuring the idea remains as strong in execution as it was on the page.
  • Lead the development of scripts, narrative structures, messaging systems, and verbal identities.
  • Help shape film and content through production, including casting, performance, edit, music, and other storytelling choices.
  • Give clear, actionable creative direction that makes both the work and the people creating it better.
  • Champion a culture of high standards, experimentation, collaboration, and craft.
Client & Strategic Collaboration
  • Present ideas and campaigns persuasively to senior clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with strategists to turn business and audience insights into strategically grounded creative ideas.
  • Help clients see the creative opportunity in their business and guide them toward distinctive, effective creative decisions.
  • Distill complex products, services and business challenges into clear, human, and compelling stories.
  • Contribute to new-business pitches and help define how Stein presents its creative thinking.
  • Collaborate with senior creative leadership to continue raising Stein's conceptual and creative standards.
Push What's Possible
  • Bring a contemporary point of view to advertising, storytelling, culture, and emerging creative technology.
  • Explore new forms, formats and voices that can make brands more distinctive and ideas more impactful.
  • Incorporate generative AI and other new creative tools into the creative and production processes where they can make the thinking or execution better.
  • Effectively collaborate with and direct specialists across film, social, experiential, design, motion, and emerging media.
  • Help evolve Stein's own voice, creative identity, and expression.
What We're Looking For:
  • Minimum 10+ years of agency experience in copywriting and creative leadership, with significant hands-on experience as a writer.
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional personal writing and conceptual work, not simply work created under your creative direction.
  • A background developing integrated campaign ideas from concept through execution.
  • Exceptional conceptual thinking and a highly developed point of view on language, storytelling, culture, and contemporary advertising.
  • The ability to find powerful, simple ideas inside complex business, brand, and audience challenges.
  • Exceptional command of language, with the ability to shift effortlessly between sharp headlines, emotionally engaging scripts, brand platforms, manifestos, and other forms of writing.
  • Strong understanding of brand voice, messaging systems, and how campaign ideas extend across channels.
  • The ability to develop ideas collaboratively with art directors and designers, with a genuine appreciation for visual thinking and design craft.
  • Experience writing and producing film, including working with directors, talent, and production partners.
  • Fluency with contemporary creative workflows, including generative AI and emerging creative technologies.
  • Strong client-facing presentation skills and the ability to clearly articulate, sell, and defend creative ideas.
  • Experience developing creative for global brands and/or across multiple markets is a plus.
  • B2B experience is a plus. What matters most is the ability to bring consumer-level creativity, craft, and ambition to complex brands and businesses.
