Job summary

G-III Apparel Group is seeking an experienced Director of Design for Eliza J Dresses in New York City. This role leads seasonal collections, guiding creative direction, fabrication, fit, and production while collaborating with Merchandising, Product Development, Technical Design, and overseas partners.

You will mentor the design team, manage budgets, and translate trends into commercially viable product that strengthens the Eliza J brand across channels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in women's fashion design, including leadership.
• High-end/contemporary design background with knowledge of dresses.
• Proven expertise in fabrications, fit, garment construction, pattern drafting and draping.
• Experience across retail and wholesale product development environments.
• Strong understanding of seasonal collection development, line planning and SKU management.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the seasonal design vision for Eliza J Dresses aligned with brand identity and market needs.
• Research fashion trends and forecast evolution to inform collections.
• Develop cohesive assortments across silhouette, fabrication, color, print and merchandising strategy.
• Oversee end-to-end design process from concept to production.
• Communicate design concepts to overseas factories and manage development samples.
• Lead and mentor the design team, ensuring alignment with cross-functional partners.
