Job summary

Flynn/Wright, Inc. is seeking a Copywriter Intern to support our creative team in Des Moines. This part-time internship offers hands-on exposure to concept development, campaign messaging, digital content and brand storytelling within a fast-paced agency environment.

You’ll draft social copy, refine headlines and assist with research, collaborating with designers, strategists and experienced writers. It’s a valuable chance to build a portfolio and start your copywriting career.

Qualifications

• Current college student or recent graduate in marketing, communications, English, journalism, advertising or related field.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Interest in advertising, branding and campaign development.
• Organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Comfortable collaborating and asking questions in a team environment.
• Ability to take feedback and turn revisions around quickly.
• Available to work part-time this semester in our downtown Des Moines office.
• Portfolio or writing samples required. Class assignments, student publications and personal projects all count.

Responsibilities

• Support copy development for social media, websites, email campaigns, digital ads, direct mail and integrated campaigns.
• Jump into brainstorms and help develop ideas alongside designers and strategists.
• Research clients, competitors and trends to help sharpen messaging.
• Draft, edit and proofread copy to ensure it’s clear, accurate and on brand.
• Pitch in on video and photo shoots helping with wardrobe, props, setup and other onsite needs to keep things running smoothly.
• Help with various agency projects and team needs as they come up (we’re big believers in jumping in where needed).
• Sit in on meetings and see how creative strategies move from idea to execution.
• Track copy revisions and feedback so each round is accurate and on deadline.
