Job summary

The City of Garden City, KS is seeking an Art Instructor to plan, organize, and lead visual and performing arts activities for youth and adults, following guidance from the Recreation Coordinator.

You will create classes, manage instructional materials, promote creativity and safety, and collaborate with staff and volunteers to support arts programming and events, including attendance tracking.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of art materials, techniques and safety practices.
• Ability to manage diverse ages and skill levels.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct arts-related classes, workshops, and activities.
• Prepare and maintain instructional materials, supplies and equipment.
• Encourage creative expression in a positive learning environment.
• Ensure safety and well-being of participants during classes and events.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers and partners to promote arts programming.
• Maintain attendance records and assist with evaluations.
• Assist with setup, cleanup and organization of art spaces or events.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
