Job summary

Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a compassionate Activities Director to lead our Therapeutic Recreation Department. You will develop and oversee engaging programs that promote residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well‑being while ensuring compliance with 42 CFR §483.24 and NYS regulations.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Recreation Therapy (CTRS preferred), 2–3 years of activity experience in long‑term care, and at least 1 year of

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.
• CTRS certification preferred or eligible.
• Must meet 42 CFR §483.24 requirements.
• 2–3 years of activities/therapeutic recreation experience in long-term care.
• At least 1 year of supervisory/management experience.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
• Passionate about enriching seniors’ lives through person-centered programming.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program per 42 CFR §483.24 and NY regulations.
• Develop individualized activity programs based on residents’ interests and care plans.
• Create meaningful daily programming for residents with varying cognitive and physical abilities, including dementia.
• Supervise, schedule, mentor, and evaluate activity staff and volunteers.
• Coordinate special events, entertainment, holidays, services, outings, and intergenerational programs.
• Complete required resident assessments, documentation, progress notes, and care plan updates.
• Maintain monthly activity calendars and communicate programs to residents and families.
• Collaborate with Nursing, Social Services, Rehabilitation, Dietary, and interdisciplinary teams.
