Job summary

Columbia Machine is seeking a Carpenter to audit picks, determine crate sizes, select and cut lumber, assemble crates, and safely load crates for shipping. The role requires precise measurement, forklift operation, and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities include photographing crates, logging daily crates, and supporting shipping and packing activities. Requires HS diploma/GED and 1–3 years’ experience; a full benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• High attention to detail in auditing orders against the pick list.
• Ability to determine crate size by measuring pieces and estimating crate dimensions.
• Proficient in using power tools and cutting lumber to size.
• Experience operating a forklift and safely loading/unloading.
• Reads a tape measure to 1/16" with accuracy.
• Performs routine tool maintenance and blade replacements.
• Knowledge of basic print reading (blueprints, packing lists).
• Uses vault tool as part of job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Audit the order against the pick list to ensure accuracy and correct quantities.
• Determine crate size by measuring largest pieces and estimating overall crate dimensions.
• Select lumber, cut to size, assemble crate, and load parts securely.
• Photograph parts before and during crating, and document layers.
• Secure parts in crates to prevent shifting during transit.
• Operate forklift to move crates and stock lumber; log crates on daily orders.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
