Job summary

General Motors seeks a Crashworthiness Engineer to lead occupant performance integration for frontal or side impact conditions. You will guide technical projects across the vehicle development lifecycle, providing technical direction while coordinating with cross-functional teams to prioritize safety and meet requirements.

You will apply GM Safety CAE procedures, perform LS-DYNA simulations, and propose design changes to achieve safety targets while collaborating with global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 2+ years of CAE or related engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply GM Safety CAE procedures to deliver high-quality models and simulation results.
• Perform CAE simulations to evaluate occupant performance for frontal/side impact cases.
• Lead design recommendations balancing safety and performance with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with programs, suppliers, and manufacturing to implement design changes.
• Use DOE/DFSS/MDO methods to optimize performance.
• Plan, execute and analyze post-test results at the Vehicle Proving Grounds and compare CAE to tests.
