Job summary

Hyundai Motor Company’s Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. in Michigan is seeking a Crash Test Technician to support test preparation and post-test activities in a fast-paced automotive testing environment.

You will work hands-on with technicians and engineers, install instrumentation, document results, and help prepare vehicles for testing with careful procedures and accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in automotive R&D testing environments.
• Experience in crash or safety test facilities preferred.
• Disassembly and reassembly of interior/exterior components.
• Proficient with TIG/MIG welding and fabrication tools.
• Soldering wires and electronics experience.
• Vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Review test plans with engineers for load case prep and post-test actions.
• Install test instrumentation, sensors, and monitors.
• Route sensor cables for each impact test mode.
• Disassemble and reassemble trim around instrumentation.
• Maintain written and photographic records of installed instrumentation.
• Prepare vehicles for testing, draining fluids and ballasting to specified weight.
• Replace prototype parts such as airbags and restraints when needed.
• Perform post-test teardown and measurements with CMM.
• Document vehicle instruments and modifications in a database.
• Order parts and equipment; maintain shop environment.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers in a team setting.
