Job summary

Actalent in Saline, MI seeks a Test Technician to prepare vehicles for crash tests over a 57-day cycle, handling mechanical, fluid, and instrumentation work in a clean, temperature-controlled shop.

The role covers Drain & Paint and Instrumentation, including wiring sensors, assembling fixtures, and safe use of hydraulic lifts. First shift 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with overtime before start as needed. Contract-to-hire with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year hands-on automotive experience, including component removal and basic body repair.
• Proficient with hand and power tools for mechanical tasks.
• Experience safely operating a hydraulic lift on underbody.
• Willingness to work in Drain & Paint and Instrumentation areas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for crash tests over a 57 day cycle with mechanical, fluid, and instrumentation tasks.
• Record measurements from initial vehicle weight and fluids.
• Install and wire instrumentation; route cables neatly for data collection.
• Operate hydraulic lifts and perform underbody inspection and painting tasks.
• Assemble test equipment and fixtures using welding and fabrication methods.
• Maintain clean, organized workstations and follow safety guidelines.
• Collaborate across Drain & Paint and Instrumentation teams for daily tests.
