Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Newark, CA is seeking a hands-on Vehicle Safety Test Engineer to drive safety testing and validation for next‑gen electric vehicles. You will work across engineering teams to prepare vehicles, run crash tests, and analyze data to support design improvements.

The role requires extensive experience with lab instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and vehicle preparation, with travel to test sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition experience.
• Experience supporting vehicle crash testing and automotive safety programs.
• Experience rebuilding or preparing vehicles for testing activities.
• Apprenticeship, vocational training or equivalent.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment.
• Ability to lift, move, and prepare test hardware and vehicle components.
• Willingness to travel to domestic test locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute vehicle safety test plans, including full vehicle crash tests and component evaluations.
• Prepare vehicles, components, and instrumentation for safety testing and validation.
• Operate and maintain test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
• Analyze test results and provide reports with design improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate with Structures, Interiors, Restraints, and CAE to resolve safety issues.
• Support passive safety target development and validation for new programs.
• Maintain test schedules, DVPs, and resource requirements.
• Communicate test readiness and results to leadership and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with suppliers and external testing facilities for compliance.
