Job summary

SRAM LLC's Crank and Bottom Bracket Team in San Luis Obispo seeks a hands-on Design Engineer to design cranksets and drivetrain components for cyclists of all levels. You will create CAD models using Creo, Windchill, and Smartsheet, collaborate with global teammates, and prototype and refine designs while traveling occasionally.

Role requires 3+ years of mechanical design experience, strong communication, and relocation to San Luis Obispo, CA. Competitive compensation and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• BSME or equivalent engineering degree.
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric and surface modeling.
• Experience with GD&T, FEA, and FMEA.
• PLM experience (Windchill) a plus.
• Experience with forging, CNC machining/turning, and stamping.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• On-site relocation to San Luis Obispo, CA required.

Responsibilities

• Design and model cranksets and related drivetrain components.
• Apply SRAM engineering practices and procedures.
• Create CAD drawings, documentation, and project plans using Creo, Windchill, and Smartsheet.
• Collaborate with local and global teammates, test labs, and suppliers.
• Facilitate problem resolution within the design team and at factories.
• Prototype, test, and refine designs.
• Provide input for manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Occasional travel (1–2 weeks, a couple times per year).
• Take meetings across time zones, including early mornings/evenings.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
