Job summary

Techcrane International LLC seeks a skilled marine hydraulic crane technician to join our Covington, LA team. The role covers assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing hydraulic cranes, ensuring safe, reliable operation in line with OSHA/ANSI standards.

Strong hydraulics experience (3–4 years), crane operator and rigger licenses, and ability to interpret schematics are required; forklift operation is expected. Some service calls may be necessary.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years of mechanical experience required.
  • 3–4 years experience with hydraulics: valve and hose assembly, routing and test; NPT/JIC knowledge.
  • Crane operator and rigger licenses required; 50 and 100 hours experience minimum.
  • Basic electrical hookup (DC) knowledge; ability to read schematics.
  • Reliable transportation for service calls as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install and test hydraulic cranes and components.
  • Overhaul and test machines to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot crane systems; perform preventive maintenance.
  • Operate forklift and other production equipment as required.
  • Document service actions with reports and checklists.
  • Ensure OSHA/ANSI compliance and quality management adherence.
  • Coordinate with foreman, production manager and engineering on issues.
  • May perform service calls as needed.

Salary Range: $22.00 To $30.00 Hourly

Job Purpose

Advanced form for assemble, install, maintain and repair marine hydraulic cranes.

Essential Functions
  • Advanced performance of assembly, installation and testing of hydraulic cranes.
  • Assemble and test hydraulic components.
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Keep crane systems operating by performing inspections, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance and repairing equipment as required.
  • Operate forklift, hand truck, man lift and other production equipment.
  • Service or repair mechanical equipment as required.
  • Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports and inspection checklist.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Techcrane Quality Management System.
  • Maintain clean and organized shop.
  • Confer with Assembly Shop Foreman, Production Manager and/or Engineering regarding problems with operation or maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • May perform service calls as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-4 years of mechanical experience required.
  • 3-4 years experience with hydraulics: valve assembly and test; hydraulic hose assembly, routing and test; hydraulic tubing assembly and test; knowledge of JIC, NPT, and fastener thread sizes.
  • Must have basic knowledge of function for valves: counterbalance, unloader/dump; sequence and other related devices.
  • Competency of system pressure is required.
  • Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic pumps and motors (fixed and variable displacement).
  • Able to operate forklift and other production equipment. Competency is required.
  • Crane operator license required (50 hours experience required).
  • Crane rigger license required (100 hours minimum experience required).
  • Basic level electrical hook up (DC voltage only) minimum.
  • Must have reliable transportation for service calls as needed.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, kneel, bend, squat, stretch, twist or reach with body, arms and/or legs.
  • Use hands to handle or operate tools and equipment; grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.
  • Keep hands and arms steady while moving arm or while holding arm and hand in one position.
  • Able to see at close range.
  • Ability to visualize.
  • Must be able to talk and hear.
  • Must be able to climb and balance; work at heights.
  • Regularly lift/carry 50 pounds or more.
  • Operate crane, forklift and other equipment.
