Job summary

Port Houston in Bayport, TX is seeking an Apprentice Crane Technician. Under close supervision, you will learn inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cranes, reading blueprints, and safety procedures while completing a paid 8,000-hour on-the-job training over up to five years.

You will work with experienced technicians to develop mechanical and electrical skills, participate in scheduled overtime, and gain hands-on experience with OEM standards and equipment diagnostics.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to learn crane maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical and electrical skills for crane maintenance.
• Assist with inspections, troubleshooting and repair of cranes.
• Follow safety and environmental procedures in all duties.
• Coordinate with Crane Technicians, Mechanics and Electricians on maintenance tasks.
• Study electrical controls and circuits on Port Houston equipment.
