Job summary

Associated Terminals is seeking a Ship’s Gear Crane Operator to join the stevedore crew. You will operate and maintain ship’s gear cranes to ensure safe, efficient transloading of cargo and commodities, while upholding strict safety standards.

This role requires hands-on crane operation experience, adherence to safety protocols, and strong teamwork to support a productive terminal environment. A TWIC card and ability to work in varying weather conditions are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience operating friction and hydraulic cranes in maritime, industrial, or warehousing environments.
  • Valid TWIC card is required.
  • Ability to perform physical work and maintain safety in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain ship’s gear cranes to support cargo handling operations.
  • Ensure team safety during crane activities on ships and in the warehouse.
  • Perform lifts and provide guidance to assigned crew members.
  • Conduct pre-job inspections and routine crane maintenance for optimal performance and safety.
  • Monitor load hookup and assess load safety before and during lifts.
  • Report unsafe operations or behaviors to the production manager.
  • Support safety initiatives and adhere to company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain assigned ship’s gear cranes to support cargo handling operations.
  • Ensure the safety of team members on ships and in the warehouse during all crane activities.
  • Perform lifts as required and provide guidance to assigned crew members.
  • Conduct pre-job inspections and perform periodic maintenance on cranes to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Monitor load hookup and assess load safety before and during lifts.
  • Promptly report any unsafe operations or behaviors to the production manager.
  • Support company safety initiatives and adhere to all operational directives and company policies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating friction and hydraulic cranes in a maritime, industrial, or warehousing environment (preferred).
  • Experience in the stevedoring or warehousing industry (preferred).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of rig operation and maintenance procedures.
  • At least 40 hours of seat time in all assigned equipment.
  • Proficiency in equipment and terminal operations.
  • Physical ability to safely perform all essential job functions.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and customer service.
  • Must possess a valid TWIC Card.
