Job summary

CMC, a Fortune 500® company, seeks a hands-on team member to contribute to scrap loading for furnace operations. You'll work with overhead cranes, follow heat requirements, and participate in safety programs while supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced plant setting.

Ideal candidates will bring a strong work ethic, dependability, and the ability to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs. Weekend and overtime flexibility is often required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Participate in CMC Safety Programs and uphold safety culture.
• Load scrap with overhead crane according to heat requirements.
• Follow established conveyor loading procedures to protect equipment.
• Understand crane hand signals and communications.
• Communicate production issues and needs to the team.
• Complete equipment inspection reports each shift.
• Suggest improvements to methods and procedures.
• Perform daily housekeeping in the work area.
• Troubleshoot problems using job knowledge and team input.
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The primary responsiblity of the individual will be supplying the furnace with scrap using a cab operated overhead crane.

What You'll Do

• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
• Exercise care to select and load scrap in accordance with heat requirements and established charge conveyor loading procedures to meet furnace requirements and prevent damage to the conveyor
• Basic understanding of crane hand signals and communications
• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
• Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Basic computer skills
• Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
• Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
