Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC in Warrenton, GA is hiring a Crane Operator for the Sawmill. You will safely operate bridge crane controls to unload incoming log trucks from elevated heights and support the safe, productive operation of the mill.

This is a full-time, 12-hour rotating shift with a cycle including day and night periods; hours run from early morning to late evening, with defined days on and off. Starting pay is $23.50 per hour or more depending on experience, and compensation can increase

Qualifications

• Minimum one year operating machinery or industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment or military experience.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in an advanced operator role, above utility/general labor level.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate bridge crane controls to unload incoming log trucks from elevated heights.
• Use safety controls, including the Stop, Think, and Ask model.
• Ensure crane is not in operation when employees, drivers, or contractors are in the danger zone.
• Communicate environmental events quickly and follow cleanup procedures.
• Ensure inventory is correctly stacked and rotated as expected.
• Maintain clear communications with merchandiser operator and truck drivers to keep the mill efficient and productive.
• Fill out check sheets in a timely manner and log books; escalate issues through the proper leaders.
• Address minor equipment issues through repairs and adjustments.
• Assist coworkers or perform additional tasks as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness expectations.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality expectations, including break time compliance.

Salary

• Our starting pay is $23.50/hr. or more depending on experience.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience in an advanced operator role, above utility/general labor level.
• A minimum of one (1) year safely operating machinery or industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment OR military experience.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Sawmill process knowledge.
• Experience operating a Crane.
• Lumber or wood products manufacturing experience.
• Experience performing machine maintenance.
