Job summary

Orizon Aerostructures in Chanute, KS seeks a qualified Level I Crane Operator for precision lifting of heavy aircraft components using remote cranes. You will follow strict safety protocols, inspect slings and hooks, and work from detailed work instructions in manufacturing or assembly.

You will assist in material support, ensure rig lines are tight, maintain records, and communicate with supervisors. The role requires OSHA 29 CFR 1926 compliance, AS9100 awareness, and weekend/overtime

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified Level I Crane Operators should have basic computer skills.
  • Capable of following detailed work instructions in manufacturing settings.
  • Able to identify and prevent nonconforming materials and maintain records.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Check rigging hardware and lifting slings for damage before/after use.

  • Work overtime as needed to support production goals.

Job description

Precision lifting and positioning of heavy aircraft components using remote-controlled cranes. Follow strict safety protocols, inspect lifting gear (slings, hooks), and follow detailed work instructions in manufacturing or assembly

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in a variety of material support activities to ensure the timely delivery of products to the customer.
  • Ensure rig lines are tight to eliminate swing of product and keep it safe from damage.
  • Checks rigging hardware and lifting slings for damage before and after use.
  • Follows OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926) and company specific safety procedures, including crane lockout/tagout.
  • Maintains records and logs for production purposes.
  • Communicate with Supervisors, Riggers, and other Operators to ensure safe, efficient transfer of goods.
  • Keeps tools and tooling operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, notifying Team Lead or Supervisor of any needed repair.
  • Report all non-conformances to Lead, Maintenance and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to safety officials or manufacturing supervision.
  • Report on job status and productions restraints to Team leaders and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Maintain production schedule, Earned Standard Hour objectives, quality and production goals.
  • Maintain an “Ultra C-Lean” working environment by following proper work procedures, ensuring a clean work area, and confirming at the beginning and end of each shift that the work area has an accurate inventory of tools.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that is safe and so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • Work extended hours, overtime, and weekends when necessary to support production and operations activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
  • free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and non-conformance issues strongly preferred.

A fully qualified Level I Crane Operators will have the following skills:

Work Environment and Job Functions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Proper safety precautions, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), must be followed as dictated by the job and working environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have ability to bend, twist and stretch arms above head and walk or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to reach in all directions, handle and manipulate objects and materials
  • Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate machines and equipment
  • Must have standard visual acuity (correctable by prescription glasses or contacts meets the requirement), including color recognition
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 10 lbs. to a maximum of 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to hear with or without correction
  • Must have the ability to become proficient and certified, as required, with equipment used to maneuver and store large and/or heavy objects
  • Able to stand for up to 4 hours at a time between breaks
