Job summary

Berkel & Company Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Crane Operator in the Washington, DC area to safely lift, move, and position materials on active job sites.

The operator will use lattice boom or displacement cranes and follow ANSI crane hand signals to ensure safety and efficiency on site. The role requires pre-shift inspections, precise crane operation according to instructions, and routine maintenance of the crane and hoisting system, with compensation aligned to the Union

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of crane operation experience or training.
• Valid Driver’s license required.
• CCO or comparable certification required.
• Mechanical aptitude for minor repairs.

Responsibilities

• Observe crane assembly and disassembly to ensure proper safety measures.
• Operate crane safely according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
• Clean and maintain the crane and hoisting mechanism.
• Conduct daily crane inspections and report defective parts for repair.

Position Summary:

Berkel & Company is seeking an experienced Crane Operator. The crane operator’s duties include operating the lattice boom or displacement cranes for the purpose of safely lifting, moving, and positioning materials and equipment in the support of ongoing field operations. On certain projects, a Berkel crane might be supporting a drilling lead or platform, in which case crane operation is focused on the safe lifting, moving, and positioning of the leads and auger stem for the purpose of setting up on drilling locations. This position requires a candidate who is knowledgeable of the crane hand signals of the American National Standard, Crawler, Locomotive and Truck Cranes, ANSI B30.5b-1985.

Job Responsibilities:

• Observe the assembly and disassembly of the crane to determine proper safety measures are being followed.
• Manipulate the crane in a safe manner and in accordance with written, verbal, or signal instructions.
• Clean and maintain the crane and hoisting mechanism.
• Conduct daily crane inspections and notify the site supervisor of any defective parts for repair.
• Prevent damage to equipment due to mistakes, carelessness, and incorrect process or procedures.

Requirements:

Compensation will be per Union Operating Engineers scale.
