Job summary

TMS International is seeking experienced Crane Operators to join our Tuscaloosa, AL location. Operators will handle scrap metal using cranes equipped with grapple or magnet attachments. This is a physically demanding role in a fast-paced steel mill environment.

Positions include rotating 4 days on, 4 days off with days and nights shifts. Required: high school diploma, 1–2 years crane experience, NCCCO or equivalent certification, and the ability to work in a hot, noisy environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of crane operator experience in an industrial setting; steel mill experience preferred.
• Valid crane operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent).
• Proven ability to operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
• Able to work in a high-temperature, noisy, physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes equipped with magnet attachments to move and sort scrap metal and other materials.
• Ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials within the mill.
• Maintain equipment and conduct routine inspections to ensure safe operation.
• Follow safety protocols and work with a team to ensure compliance with all safety standards.
• Assist in material loading/unloading processes as needed.
• Document crane operations and report any malfunctioning equipment to maintenance personnel.
