Job summary

Job description

TMS International, the leading provider of on-site, industrial steel mill services, is seeking a qualified Hydraulic Crane Operator to join our team. The role involves safely operating hydraulic cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment within the facility while maintaining a strong focus on workplace safety.

Position Overview

The Hydraulic Crane Operator will operate hydraulic cranes, conduct pre‑operation inspections, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols. Shift work follows a 12‑hour rotating schedule with 4 days on, 4 days off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate hydraulic cranes to lift and transport materials and equipment as required.
  • Perform pre‑operation inspections and routine maintenance on crane equipment.
  • Read and interpret load charts and operational manuals to ensure safe lifting practices.
  • Communicate effectively with ground crews to coordinate movements and ensure safety.
  • Maintain accurate logs of crane operations, including load weights and lift times.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist with training and mentoring new operators as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications (e.g., NCCCO) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating hydraulic cranes in an industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and load calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics.
