Job summary

Georgia Ports Authority is seeking an Asst Manager of Operations - Cranes at Garden City Terminal. You will supervise crane operations, schedule daily work, and ensure safety and efficiency in cargo handling for container and breakbulk cargo.

The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with ship operations and maintenance teams. Exempt, full-time position with shift flexibility and reporting duties to the Manager of Crane Operations.

Qualifications

• General working knowledge of heavy equipment and rigging.
• Knowledge of crane regulations and crane maintenance.
• Good physical condition; able to climb and work at height.
• Ability to work all shifts (nights, weekends, holidays).
• Excellent oral, written, and listening skills.
• Ability to engage professionally with GPA staff, customers and partners.

Responsibilities

• Schedules the daily work of the employees and equipment.
• Establishes priorities for work to be completed.
• Inspects cranes to ensure safe operation.
• Trains and counsels employees.
• Maintains crane operation status and safety practices.
• Manages crane operator logs and vessel operations communications.
• Analyzes workload and authorizes overtime with the manager.
• Completes time sheets and generates production reports.
• Investigates incidents and records root cause analyses.
• Ensures efficient and economical cargo handling.
