Job summary

Nucor Corporation is hiring for a maintenance/automation role in Huger, SC. The position focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing PLC-based crane and mobile control systems, with strong emphasis on electrical safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, supporting startup of new crane automation, updating HMIs, and maintaining documentation. Requires HS diploma and 2 years of industrial electrical experience, plus Rockwell or Siemens programming knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• 1 year experience supporting PLC and automation systems in an industrial environment.
• Experience with HMIs, sensors, and other safety devices.
• Hands-on programming experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLC-based Crane & Mobile control systems, including I/O, field devices, sensors, and actuators.
• Diagnose electrical, control, and automation-related equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor, adjust, and optimize PLC logic to support production performance.
• Support startup, commissioning, and debugging of new crane automation equipment.
• Maintain and update HMI screens, alarms, and data collection systems.
• Troubleshoot VFDs, motion control systems, and industrial communications (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on crane automation and electrical systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC programs, and mechanical drawings.
• Maintain accurate documentation, backups, and change control for PLC programs and automation systems.
• Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including call-ins.
