Scott-Macon Equipment Co. is seeking dependable mechanics to join our Houston, TX team specializing in mobile crane and lifting equipment repairs. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing various types of mobile cranes in a safe and timely manner while ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturer guidelines.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in equipment repairs, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel for jobs. We offer competitive pay based on experience, along with health and retirement benefits.

Job Duties

• Repairs equipment safely and in a timely manner as directed by supervisor(s) and in accordance with regulatory and manufacturer guidelines.
• Attends any safety training or other appropriate training such as manufacturers’ training.
• Supports good customer relations by providing excellent service while complying with customer jobsite and safety rules while on customer premises.
• Maintains a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to drive a company truck as required.
• Field Technicians maintains a safe Service Truck by keeping state inspection, license plates, current insurance card, and communicates with the Service Department on required equipment readiness.
• Maintains a neat and orderly work area by cleaning up tools and area after completing repairs.
• When scheduled for “on-call”, must be available 24 hours/day.
• Provides adequate tools to perform assigned jobs.
• Communicates professionally with co-workers, customers, vendors, and the public.
• Travels to various job sites on short notice for crane repairs.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile crane equipment (rough terrain, all-terrain, crawler, industrial carry deck, etc.) and other lifting equipment.
• 3 years relative experience with mechanic/hydraulic equipment preferred.
• Experience in troubleshooting various equipment lines including Tadano, Tadano Mantis, Tadano Demag, Broderson, Terex, and Grove.
• Experience with electrical, drive train, engine, hydraulic, and computer-controlled systems preferred.
• Ability to read schematics, both hydraulic and electrical.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion of diesel mechanic/hydraulic trade school or equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, stoop, and move about shop and equipment. Some heavy physical effort required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lb. Will regularly be exposed to noise, heat, dust, and fumes around repair facility. Extreme weather conditions possible, at times. Must be able to drive a vehicle for local travel.
