Overview
American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is looking for experienced Crane & Hoist Service Technicians to support customers throughout the Gadsden, AL region and surrounding areas. This field‑based role includes local, regional, and occasional travel assignments up to approx 3 months within a 12‑month period.

Field‑based service work: travel to customer sites, diagnose problems, perform repairs, and ensure equipment safely back into operation with minimal supervision. Self‑directed, safety‑focused, mechanically capable, and comfortable operating independently in industrial environments.

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
- Learn ACECO service standards, safety expectations, and documentation processes
- Independently complete inspections, maintenance, and basic repairs
- Build trust with customers through professionalism and technical competence
- Accurately document service work and communicate findings
- Begin handling more complex troubleshooting scenarios independently
What You’ll Do
- Travel to customer sites for inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Service electric overhead cranes and hoists (mechanical & electrical systems)
- Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC / 3‑phase electrical systems
- Perform work independently while adhering to all safety and quality standards
- Communicate clearly with customers, supervisors, and internal teams
- Provide clear updates and recommendations based on equipment condition
- Complete accurate service reports and documentation
- Track work performed, findings, and follow‑up needs
- Maintain accountability for service quality and reporting accuracy
- Participate in on‑call rotation and support urgent customer needs as required
- Travel locally, regionally, and/or nationally as required
- Support urgent customer needs when necessary
What We’re Looking For
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical or trade certifications preferred
Experience
- 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience servicing electric overhead cranes and hoists strongly preferred
- Strong field service experience in industrial environments
Technical Skills
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (480 VAC / 3‑phase systems)
- Solid mechanical troubleshooting and repair capability
- Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards, lockout/tagout, and fall protection

Requirements
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

- Willingness to undergo a pre‑employment drug screen and randomized drug testing during employment
- Ability to meet the posted work schedule and travel requirements
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
- Willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Willingness to wear appropriate PPE when required
- Willingness to complete required safety and compliance training

Additional Requirements For The Position
- Ability to travel locally, regionally, and/or nationally up to a total of 3 months within a 12‑month span
- Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to obtain and maintain a REAL ID or valid U.S. Passport
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities and secure sites
- Ability to lift 50 + lbs, work at heights, climb ladders, and perform confined space work
- Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to weather, noise, and moving equipment
