Job summary

MGX is seeking a Crane Diagnostics Expert to serve as the go-to mechanic for complex crane issues in our shop. Under the direction of the Service Manager, you’ll perform inspections, fault isolation, repairs, and preventive maintenance on mobile cranes and boom trucks to keep customers operating safely and efficiently.

Interpret OEM manuals, diagnose hydraulic and electrical systems, test post-repair compliance, and document results.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; two years' crane mechanic experience preferred.
• Preferred experience with Grove RT & TMS, Grove GMK European Cranes, Manitowoc EPIC/Traditional Cranes, and National Boom Trucks.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Strong communication with a customer-first mindset.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Personal tool set up to 1.5 inches.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect cranes to identify defects and performance issues.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems on mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes.
• Examine components for wear using micrometers and gauges.
• Interpret OEM manuals, parts catalogs, blueprints, and drawings.
• Test mechanical, electronic, electrical, and hydraulic systems post-repair to verify OEM specifications.
• Stage jobs by validating parts and drawings.
• Perform annual inspections and document results.
• Complete working reports, hour reports, time sheets, hours overviews, and expense reports.
• Deliver excellent customer service while working independently with minimal supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.
