Qualifications

• License and Certification: Valid Georgia driver's license required.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Building technical training preferred.
• Experience: Two years experience in commercial construction, building maintenance, or similar demonstrated acceptable experience required.
• Skills: Ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately; effective communication skills; ability to interpret technical instructions and diagrams; knowledge of building codes, procedures, materials, tools, hazards, and safety procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Perform skilled installation, preventive maintenance, and repairs of building structures.
   • Work on projects following appropriate codes and safety procedures.
   • Repair hardware and equipment accurately.
   • Install hardware, equipment, and building materials per codes.
   • Record repairs and parts used.
2. Manage inventory and tools.
   • Maintain and account for tools, parts, and equipment issued.
   • Operate handheld work order/inventory devices.
3. Supervise private contractors if assigned.
   • Plan and direct daily work schedules.
   • Ensure safety and compliance with codes.
   • Train contractors and staff as needed.
4. Collaborate with other personnel.
   • Coordinate with other craftsmen and departmental staff.
   • Maintain positive working relationships.
5. Skill development.
   • Learn to service and repair various hardware and machinery.
   • Receive training on new equipment.
6. Assist after hours as needed.
   • Be on call and responsive 24/7.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, climb ladders, reach, manipulate tools, lift up to 50 pounds, operate vehicles, and work in various environmental conditions. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision. May involve working in confined spaces, with electricity, heat, noise, chemicals, and solvents.
