Job summary

San Joaquin County is seeking a Crafts Worker III to perform skilled painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and related maintenance trades in county facilities. Under direction, you will repair and maintain building systems and may lead a small crew.

Candidates should have four years of journey level experience in one building trade and a valid California driver’s license. The position is full-time with benefits under the 1937 Retirement Act.

Qualifications

• Two years of journey level experience in one of the building trades may be required for certain assignments (Painting, Carpentry, Plumbing, Welding, Electrical, HVAC).
• Four years as a Crafts Worker II in San Joaquin County Service.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled painting, glazing, carpentry, plastering, locksmithing, masonry, plumbing, metal work, welding, electrical, mechanical, heating and ventilating, and related maintenance trades work.
• Pours concrete, installs doors, lays flooring, and installs partitions and drop ceilings; repairs door closures, furniture and roofing; performs general carpentry work.
• Maintains and repairs locks, appliances, automotive equipment, boilers, heating and ventilating, and related mechanical devices.
• Operates and maintains a variety of motorized tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Reads blueprints or sketches, forecasts material needs, orders supplies, keeps records, and prepares reports.
• May lead other workers.
