Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. is seeking a Bakery Team Member to ensure fresh, high‑quality bakery items and exceptional guest service. You will prepare and bake products, follow scratch recipes, and help guests with product selection.

Responsibilities include dough handling, donuts, proofing, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards. This role emphasizes teamwork, proper record keeping, and a commitment to delivering a great guest experience in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Qualifications

• 6 to 12 months experience or completion of Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
• Experience in Bakery or related industry preferred.
• No High School diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Perform bench work and prepare products to scratch recipes.
• Bake products to specified time and temperature.
• Prepare bakery items to established recipes including scratch recipes.
• Place products into proof box and set controls for proper size.
• Prepare and fry donuts using established procedures.
• Freeze and retrieve products to preserve freshness.
• Assist guests with questions and provide product suggestions.
• Demonstrate suggestive selling and active sampling when appropriate.
• Greet customers and help locate products; answer questions with product knowledge.
• Maintain safety and sanitation as a top priority.
• Rotate bakery products and ensure freshest items are available.
• Record special orders accurately and manage backroom operations.
• Follow safety, sanitation, lifting, and housekeeping standards.
• Understand ingredients and purposes of those used in scratch baked goods.
• Assist in unloading deliveries and maintaining bakery backroom efficiency.
• Assemble necessary baking ingredients for operation.
