Job summary

Sampson County Department of Social Services seeks a Social Worker III Trainer to lead CPS staff training and mentorship. You will develop onboarding and ongoing training, ensuring staff are prepared, confident, and capable in their duties.

You will mentor the foster care team, coordinate with the Social Work Supervisor III, and drive quality assurance through case reviews and performance feedback to strengthen retention and consistency.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
• Bachelor's degree in social work with Child Welfare Collaborative (or related experience).
• Experience in foster care or child welfare settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary trainer and mentor for new and existing CPS Social Workers.
• Develop onboarding and ongoing training programs covering policy, safety, documentation, and legal requirements.
• Coach and support staff through hands-on learning, shadowing, case consultation, and feedback.
• Conduct case reviews to ensure quality and identify service delivery gaps.
• Collaborate with the Social Work Supervisor III to align training with agency goals and improve retention.
• Help enhance consistency, confidence, and competence across the foster care team.
