Job summary

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks a Family Based Safety Services supervisor to manage daily operations and make critical child safety decisions. The role requires coordinating with staff, courts, and agencies to ensure safety plans and services are appropriate.

Essential duties include staff supervision, policy interpretation, and ensuring documentation and transfers align with regulations. Prior CPS experience and a bachelor’s degree are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, plus 3 years of full-time CPI/CPS casework or 60+ credits plus four years of CPI/CPS casework.
• Ability to operate a PC and use various software packages.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and to analyze facts.
• Capacity to work with diverse populations and understand race and poverty implications.

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages unit operations to achieve goals and supervise staff.
• Interprets policy and procedures to staff, families, courts, and the public.
• Evaluates unit performance and ensures policy compliance.
• Develops relationships with community resources and stakeholders.
• Makes casework decisions regarding removal and placement of children.
