Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking a skilled Medical Billing/Coding Specialist in New York to review clinical documentation, ensure accurate charge capture, and apply CPT/HCPCS/diagnosis codes.

You will follow coding guidelines, assist physicians with documentation, and maintain compliance with federal and state rules; collaborate with billing and clinical teams; and perform coding tasks with independence and accuracy. CPC certification and 3 years of billing and coding experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• CPC certification required.
• 3 years of medical billing experience.
• 3 years of physician coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and code to the highest level of specificity for accurate charge capture.
• Assign and sequence appropriate codes using current procedure, diagnosis, and HCPCS for insurance billing.
• Follow coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with Federal and State guidelines.
• Communicate with Special Billers and Charge Follow-up Coordinator for billing questions.
• Review charge review edits and correct as needed.
• Ensure proper submission of services prior to billing on selected charges.
• Maintain compliance standards per internal policies and report issues.
• Collaborate with other clinical areas and staff.
• Perform coding work requiring independent judgment with timeliness and accuracy.
• All other duties as assigned.
