Job summary

Cox Enterprises is hiring a Water, Nature & Energy Intern to join our team. The intern will support enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives, work with Cox Conserves colleagues, and help develop and implement projects reducing environmental impact across operations.

The role involves data collection, analysis, and research to advance scalable sustainability practices during rapid growth, with up to 5–15% travel and a hybrid work model supporting flexible location.

Cox Enterprises is hiring an Water, Nature & Energy Intern to join our team!

The Water, Nature & Energy Intern will work closely with Cox Conserves team members and others across the organization to support enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives. The intern will assist with executing Cox’s multifaceted sustainability strategy, including working with internal and external partners to develop and implement projects that reduce the overall environmental impact of our operations, facilitating data collection and analysis efforts for enterprise and business unit reporting, and researching scalable sustainability management practices for complex organizations experiencing rapid new growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational & Strategic Support: Work closely with Cox Conserves and other cross-functional groups to support enterprise-wide conservation efforts and strategic programmatic development across carbon, water, waste and biodiversity
• Data Collection & Analysis: Support the collection and analysis of sustainability data for Cox locations across our multiple divisions
• Secondary Research: Conduct secondary research and summarize findings on how rapidly growing organizations effectively integrate new growth businesses into corporate sustainability strategy
• Other Duties: The intern may have other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required

• Passion for environmental sustainability and resource conservation
• Understanding of organizational sustainability practices
• Familiarity with sustainability management principles

Preferred

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field
• Experience with Microsoft 365 apps and services such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and geospatial software
• LEED, ISSP, or similar certifications

• Strong communication (both written and verbal) and stakeholder engagement skills
• Proven critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills

Working Conditions
