Job summary

Intercare Therapy seeks a Coverage Behavior Technician to provide year-round floating support across School Services and Behavioral Health programs in our California locations. You will work across multiple schools and centers, delivering direct intervention, supporting staffing needs, onboarding, and operational projects to ensure continuity of care.

Hours are targeted at 30 per week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, with a pay rate of $23–$25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of behavioral intervention, ABA, or related experience.
• Knowledge of ABA principles and behavioral intervention methodologies.
• CPI certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Implement IEPs and BIPs in school settings.
• Provide individualized behavioral intervention support.
• Facilitate participation in classroom, recreational, and community activities.
• Collect behavioral data and complete required documentation.

Position Overview:

The Coverage Behavior Technician (CBT) is a year-round floating support position that provides coverage and operational support across Intercare’s School Services and Behavioral Health programs. CBTs are deployed where support is needed most and may work across multiple schools, districts, centers, clients, and programs throughout the year to help ensure continuity of care. In addition to providing direct intervention services, CBTs support staffing needs, onboarding initiatives, peer mentorship, and operational projects during periods of lower coverage demand. This dynamic role offers consistent hours, diverse experiences, and opportunities to make a meaningful impact across multiple teams and service environments.

Reports to: Senior Specialist, School Operations

• Hours: Targeted 30 hours per week, 6 hours per school day throughout Regular School Year Availability Requirement: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
• Pay Rate: $23 - $25 per hour
• Individual Assignment Duration: individual student/school coverage assignments throughout Regular School Year may vary from 1 to 30+ days based on coverage needs
• Reporting Location: In the event coverage is not assigned, Coverage Behavior Technician will report to one of Intercare’s Behavioral Health Centers to conduct Behavior Health coverage or essential non-coverage functions

Description:

The Coverage Behavior Technician (CBT) is a year-round floating support position that provides coverage and operational support across Intercare’s School Services and Behavioral Health programs. CBTs are deployed where support is most needed and may work across multiple schools, districts, centers, clients, and programs throughout the year.

This role helps ensure continuity of services by providing direct intervention, supporting staffing needs, assisting with onboarding and peer support initiatives, and contributing to operational projects during periods of lower coverage demand. The CBT position offers a dynamic work experience, consistent hours, and opportunities to support a variety of teams and service environments while making a meaningful impact across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

School-Based Direct Service

• During school-based coverage assignments, the CBT will:
• Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Provide individualized behavioral intervention support
• Support students through instructional and non-instructional activities
• Facilitate participation in classroom, recreational, and community-based activities
• Utilize CPI and approved crisis management procedures when necessary
• Collect behavioral data and complete required documentation

Behavioral Health Direct Intervention Support

• During home and clinic-based coverage assignments, the CBT will:
• Provide direct intervention services in Intercare Centers and home-based settings
• Provide individualized behavioral intervention support
• Utilize CPI and approved crisis management procedures when necessary
• Collect behavioral data and complete required documentation
• Serve as a Peer Support Partner for newly assigned BIs
• Conduct structured outreach and onboarding support activities
• Facilitate brief Teams check-ins and peer support meetings
• Provide guidance related:
• School system documentation
• CR appointment conversion
• Operational processes and workflows

Communication & Professional Expectations

• Establish and maintain effective communication with supervisors, clinical teams, school personnel, and staff
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and organizational requirements
• Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development activities
• Follow scheduling and documentation requirements
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and responsiveness across multiple service environments

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of behavioral intervention, ABA, special education, or related experience
• Knowledge of ABA principles and behavioral intervention methodologies
• CPI certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel between school, center, and home-based service locations.
