Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Coverage Behavior Technician to join our School Services team at Intercare Therapy. This floating position provides essential coverage support when Behavior Interventionists are absent, ensuring continuous quality care for our students across various school districts in Greater Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley areas.
Key Details:
- Hours: Guaranteed 30 hours per week, 6 hours per school day throughout the regular school year (RSY)
- Availability: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
- Pay Rate: $23 per hour
- Location: Various schools within LAUSD, LBUSD, and other districts
- Assignment Duration: Maintains a minimum of 30 hours per week; individual coverage may vary from 1 to 30+ days based on needs
- Reporting Location: When not assigned to coverage, reports to Intercare’s Behavioral Health Centers for non-coverage duties
Responsibilities:
- Implement IEPs and BIPs collaboratively with teachers
- Provide behavioral support tailored to student needs
- Apply ABA methodologies to address behaviors
- Support students during transitions, meals, and activities
- Assist with off-campus trips and recreational activities
- Maintain detailed documentation of behavior and progress
- Respond to emergencies using Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and staff
- Complete administrative tasks accurately, including documentation and data collection
- Ensure confidentiality and use safe handling procedures
- Participate in trainings and team meetings
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years experience in behavioral intervention or special education
- Knowledge of ABA principles and methodologies
- CPI certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel up to 35 miles one-way
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Physical ability to support students in activities
- Flexibility to adapt to different environments and student needs
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to commute up to 35 miles one-way within assigned regions
