Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of full time POST certified law enforcement and/or correctional experience, or a basic police academy, or 60 college credits in criminal justice, homeland security, fire science or related field (transcript or degree required), or two years public safety EMT/paramedic/firefighter experience, or two years of active duty military with honorable discharge, or five years of guard/reserve experience.
• The candidate should understand courtroom security and the criminal justice process.
• Ability to interact professionally with the public and maintain order and safety.

Responsibilities

• Arranges seating and other physical details; prepares courtroom for hearings and arranges defendants in order of appearance.
• Delivers court papers from jail to courthouse and transports the judge from chambers to the courtroom; keeps courtroom secure.
• Maintains order and safety in the courts and courthouse; monitors hallway and directs defendants, witnesses and the public to the appropriate courtroom.
• Conducts security checks of the courtroom and jury room to prevent weapons and ensure a safe environment for all.
